Mommy Makeover NYC

Many women have a desire to regain their “pre-pregnancy” body. Good nutrition and rigorous exercise can make a positive impact, but in many cases the only way to reverse the signs of aging and childbirth is through surgical means.

You’re a mom – one of the most wonderful experiences of a lifetime. But giving birth, while an amazing event, can trigger changes in the body that many women are not happy with.

The Mommy Makeover is a combination of surgical procedures that Plastic Surgeon Dr. Tracy Pfeifer performs on many of her patients after they’ve finished having children  – to restore the youthful look of their bodies.

Dr. Pfeifer works with each patient pre-surgery to tailor a look that works for her. Changing their bodies through the Mommy Makeover has helped so many of her patients regain their self-confidence – and their pre-children bodies.

How does a Mommy Makeover help?

The mommy makeover is a series of cosmetic procedures in body contouring, breast enhancement, and skin tightening that aim to reduce problems such as the following:

  • Loose skin
  • Sagging Breasts
  • Loss of breast fullness
  • Protruding abdomen
  • Persistent fat deposits

What is included and Why?

The Mommy Makeover includes a combination of surgical procedures that Dr. Pfeifer performs during one surgery (and can be done as separate procedures, depending on the patient, as she tailors every procedure to each person):

  • Perkier, fuller breasts: After childbirth, there’s a deflation of breast volume (e.g., you go from a D cup to a B cup), along with breast sagging due to stretching of the skin. Because of this volume loss, she adds implants and sometimes even does a breast lift if there’s a lot of sagging. During a breast lift, she detaches the excess skin and moves the nipple higher (note: the nipple is not detached) so that it is centered on the breast mound.
  • More defined abs: So many moms, particularly those who have had more than one child, have something called diastasis recti – a separation of the left and right ab muscles (the so-called “six-pack” muscles) that makes it virtually impossible to get rid of that pregnancy “pooch” and get flat, firm abs. No amount of exercise will correct this separation; abdominal surgery (also called an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck) is the only thing that can help. During surgery, Dr. Pfeifer closes up this separation and removes the excess abdominal skin that so commonly hangs over pants and panties. She also tightens up the mons pubis, that rounded mass of tissue that lies over the pubic bones; this commonly sags after childbirth, too.
  • A leaner look overall: During the Mommy Makeover, Dr. Pfeifer also uses liposuction selectively to reduce fat deposits in areas that don’t respond to diet or exercise. This includes fat on the back, knees, and thighs.

Breast Enhancement Surgeries

Childbirth and nursing can have deleterious effects on the breasts such as a loss of fullness and sagging. Breast enhancement procedures like mastopexy and breast augmentation are designed to restore fullness, improve breast position, and tighten skin. They can be performed alone or in combination.

Tummy Tuck Surgery

Even if you exercise regularly, a protruding abdomen can be present because of the excess skin that has accumulated in your midsection. Through abdominoplasty surgery, the tummy can become flatter and firmer. Some women do not require a full abdominoplasty but may benefit from a partial abdominoplasty or mini tummy tuck.

Selective Fat Reduction with Liposuction

Weight fluctuations can leave women with fat deposits in certain areas that won’t respond to diet or exercise. The back, knees, thighs, flanks, or stomach may exhibit a small pouch of fat, causing your natural silhouette to appear unbalanced. Liposuction targets areas of persistent fat and removes them. Using a tiny suction powered tube called a cannula, the fat is selectively removed and the body contour is thereby improved.

Your mommy makeover is always tailored to meet your needs, so if you’re interested in improving your body there are many options available.
