Taxing Cosmetic Surgery: Online Poll

Plastic surgeons in the United States are concerned about the proposed tax on cosmetic surgery that was included in the latest healthcare reform bill unveiled by the Senate. They say it’s discriminatory, arbitrary, and could hurt and industry that is just beginning to recover from the recession.

But patients would pay most of the tax, so what do they think of it? Sometimes it can be hard to gauge these things, especially when you have a group that isn’t unified like this. As one surgeon told the New York Times this week, ““You’re taxing a disorganized group that has no one of its own representing it. There’s no American Society of Plastic Surgery Patients.”

Therefore, this poll was created to hopefully get a better idea of what patients and non-surgeons think of this tax proposal. Please participate!
